United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) vice presidential bet Senator Gregorio ‘Gringo’ Honasan recently said that there will be more Makati like cities all over the Philippines once Vice President Jejomar Binay wins the presidency.
In the regional meeting of Honasan’s Philippine Guardian Brotherhood International (PGBI) in Cagayan de Oro City, he stressed about the success story of Makati City under a Binay leadership which should be copied by other cities.
“Napaunlad niya ang Makati through his decisive leadership. His vision and dreams for Makati can also be done in other parts of the country,” Honasan said.
Honasan pointed out the outstanding performance of VP Binay as a Mayor that gave people of Makati City the access to free education, free health-care and hospitalization and other basic social services including the love and support for senior citizens.
“That is why what we need come election day is to analyze. Sino ba ang may kakayahan na i-ahon sa kahirapan ang mahihirap nating mga kababayan? It’s only Binay lang yan,” Honasan said.
Honasan added that VP Binay even let other cities in the country tastes the wealth of Makati by initiating the program on sister-cities where localities especially in the provinces acquires several resources of Makati city government.
“Ang performance ni VP sa mahihirap ay hindi matatawaran. Hindi pa man siya Pangulo, ipinaramdam na niya ang kanyang magagawa para sa bansa. Kahit ang mga lider mula Taguig at Davao ay hindi naman nagawa ang ginawa ni Binay sa Makati City,” Honasan said.
But Honasan admitted that corruption issues against the Vice President hampers the UNA campaign in the May 9 elections though he remains optimistic that Binay will win the elections.
“The issues of corruption against VP Binay is highly motivated by a political vengeance. In fact, lumutang lang ang mga isyu na iyan when he declared his intention to run for presidency. But as I have said, hindi tayo ang korte para humusga at magsabi na siya ay guilty,” Honasan stressed.
